This Zuni piece in General Store’s Vintage Found Collection was made using a technique called Snake Eye. Typically, the stones are shaped into cylinders and then polished on one end and set in the bezel thus giving the impression of circular or oval snake eyes when finished. Due to the natural nature of turquoise, variations in the color of the stones range from true blue to a darker green.
Ring is a size 7 and measures 1" tall.

As new techniques and tools were developed and shared across Native America, jewelry-makers began to achieve a much greater level of precision with their work.
