California Trip is a photographic journal of California at the zenith of the hippie movement. In 1968, Dennis Stock traveled along the California coast in order to photograph the various countercultures and movements that were present at the time. With just a camera, Stock vividly captures the sense of adventure and general care for others that the hippie culture inspired and fostered during this iconic moment in American history. Somewhat surreal, but fundamentally faithful to the wild and uninhibited culture prevalent in the Golden State, Stock’s photographic essay brings a sense of nostalgia for the freedom and the passion of these past times.
Published in 1970, first printing. Due to the vintage nature of this book some minor signs of use and wear are to be expected.
