Four Corners Leather Tray

Made Solid

The perfect catch-all in leather, this shallow leather tray handsomely holds keys, change, and other small essentials. The original hand-shaped tray was designed by Peter Maxwell for bill-delivery in an L.A. Japanese restaurant. Each is made from Herman Oak vegetable tan leather, cut and shaped while wet, dried to harden the form, and then finished with rich beeswax and plant oils. All edges beveled and burnished by hand. As with all Make Solid pieces, the tray will beautifully age and darken with regular use.

Made in Los Angeles.

Measures approximately 8” square, and ½” tall.

Peter Maxwell is the inspired leather maker behind Make Solid. He is originally from the western Oregon coast, where he learned the traditional basics of leatherwork from his grandfather. Today, using vintage leather working tools and traditional saddle stitching, he designs simple and functional objects that highlight the unique character of each hide and enhances it over a lifetime of use.
