Zuni Necklace

Vintage Zuni necklace. Features turquoise, heishi beads and sterling silver hook closure. Measures 15” long clasped and 30" long unclasped.

Though Native American Tribes had been working with metal for generations, modern silver working techniques were only introduced in the 19th century by artists from Mexico. In the 1870’s, the Navajo shared these techniques with the Zuni, who are thought to be the first to insert turquoise stone into silver settings.

Please note that due to their delicate nature all of our vintage items are final sale.
