The Aura

Vintage

Physician and surgeon, Dr. Kilner was appointed the director of London’s first x-ray department in 1897 just after the x-ray discovery. Alongside his further investigations into electrotherapy and the energetic field that surrounds the body, “Kilner accepted the presence of the aura, and he determined to make it visible to the human eye.” The Aura explores Kilner’s theory that the condition of the aura reflects the state of health or illness within the body, and the ways it supports medical diagnoses. At the time of publishing, Kilner’s concepts were not well received by his medical colleagues, rather favored by the occult world. It’s safe to say he was before his time.
